Assalamualaikum Warahatullahi Wabarakatuh
Selamat Pagi and Good Morning

Ladies and Gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to thank all of the participants for answering our call to participate in this first ever Oil and Gas Energy Job Fair. I want to thank all the Oil and Gas Operators for sponsoring and jointly organising this event. My special thank goes to Brunei Shell Petroleum for their full support since this event was first initiated, and also to all the vendors and contractors who are servicing our energy industry. Your very presence here today is evidence of your commitment to support the nation’s drive to provide ample employment opportunities in the energy industry for the people of Brunei Darussalam.

Minister at the Energy Department under the Prime Minister's Office (EDPMO), Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Mohammad Yasmin Hj Umar, said during a speech on Thursday that with the new Local Business Development (LBD) Framework Directive, the department hopes that in future, Bruneian companies will be managed and owned by locals; that they own their key assets such as vessels and rigs instead of leasing from third parties; and carry out commercial activities as their own.

Pehin Dato Hj Yasmin when addressing members of the oil and gas industry at the Pusat Insani Seria Community Hall, said that there needs to be a mindset change on "bad practices".
