Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Energy, Upstream and Downstream) virtually attended the 41st OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting (41st ONOMM) on 7th June 2026. Also present during the Meeting were Yang Mulia Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office and Yang Mulia Awang Haji Asrul Adrain bin Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Ahmad, Acting Permanent Secretary (Fiscal I), Ministry of Finance.
During the virtual meeting, the OPEC and non-OPEC Participating Countries reaffirmed their long-standing commitment under the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) to support a stable and balanced global oil market. The meeting reiterated the continuity of existing crude oil production levels until the end of 2026 and strengthened the role of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee in closely overseeing market conditions and participating countries’ conformity.
The meeting also endorsed the plan developed by OPEC Secretariat to achieve the objectives of the Charter of Cooperation (CoC), which was signed on 2nd July 2019. The plan further affirmed the importance of completing the Maximum Sustainable Production assessment for all DoC countries to be used as reference for 2027 production baselines. Brunei Darussalam’s participation reflects its continued support for collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring stability, transparency, and long-term sustainability in the global energy market.
The countries participating in the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) agreed to extend the level of overall crude oil production for OPEC and non-OPEC Participating Countries in the DoC as agreed in the 35th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting until 31st December 2026 and reiterated the critical importance of adhering to full conformity and compensation mechanism.
