Department of Electrical Services Awards Two i-Usahawan Contracts

A contract signing ceremony under the i-Usahawan programme was held between the Department of Electrical Services (DES), Ministry of Energy and two local companies - DKH General Contractor and Fath-Briz Sdn Bhd, bringing a total of 3 i-Usahawan contracts awarded by DES. Held on 6th August 2020 at DES's Headquarters, the event was attended by officers and staff form the Ministry and DES.
Signing on behalf of the Department of Electrical Services was Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, Acting Director of the Department of Electrical Services while DKH General Contractor was represented by its owner, Yang Mulia Dayangku Siti Hafizah binti Pengiran Anak Rosledzana. DKH General will be providing housekeeping services to DES Pusar Ulak, Sengkurong and Bunut branch for a period of 3 years. This contract provides employment for 5 local cleaners.
The second contract was awarded to Fath-Briz Sdn Bhd for the provision of grass cutting services and building maintenance at Tenaga Suria Brunei (TSB) for a period of 4 years. Fath-Briz Sdn Bhd was represented by its owner, Yang Mulia Mohammad Fadly bin Jais. This contract provides employment for 6 local cleaners and grasscutters.
Both DKH General Contractor and Fath-Briz Sdn Bhd have attended several SME Trainings prior to participating in the tenders. The trainings comprised of Financial Practice for MSME and Financial Education for Entrepreneurs conducted by Darussalam Enterprise as well as a course on Tender Introduction conducted by DES.
Since its inception on 1st August 2018 in conjunction with the 13th National Youth Day, the i-Usahawan programme has identified a total of 42 contracts by Government, Government Linked Companies (GLCs) and Statutory Bodies, where 16 of the contracts have been awarded. With the main objective to provide business opportunities for aspiring local youth entrepreneurs to competitively participate in tenders for low risk (ring-fenced) contracts, the successful entrepreneurs can develop and enhance their entrepreneurial skills through the continuous mentorship support from the contract holder throughout the contract execution.
The programme is in line with the ministry's aspiration to support the nation's efforts in enhancing the local economy and in developing local capability, specifically within the Energy Sector in alignment with Brunei Vision 2035.
