The Department of Energy (DOE) at the Prime Minister’s Office through the Energy Transition Division, together with the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), successfully conducted an Energy Management Workshop for tenants of Sungai Bera Industrial Park on 22 July 2026 at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The workshop was a follow-up from DOE’s townhall engagement with Sungai Bera Industrial Park tenants in April 2026, translating earlier discussions into practical guidance on implementing energy management measures. It brought together 26 participants representing 14 companies, alongside representatives from BEDB, with the aim of strengthening industry capacity in energy management and promoting the adoption of practical energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) measures.
The session was designed as interactive and hands-on, and participants were guided through the key steps of the energy management journey, from understanding their current electricity consumption and establishing an electricity baseline to identifying energy-saving opportunities and exploring solar potential after implementing EEC measures.
The workshop concluded with each participating company developing an action plan outlining practical EEC measures, implementation challenges and the support required to advance energy management within their organisations. Participants were also encouraged to incorporate electricity consumption into their 2027 organisational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and work towards an overall 20% reduction in electricity consumption through the continuous implementation of EEC measures. A case study presented during the workshop demonstrated that this level of reduction can be achieved through practical no-cost and low-cost EEC measures.
This initiative forms part of DOE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen energy management practices within the commercial and industrial sector and serves as a practical engagement model that can be replicated across other industrial parks in Brunei Darussalam. To support continued implementation, DOE will follow up with participating companies in January 2027 to review their progress, discuss implementation challenges, and identify opportunities for further support.
