The Prime Minister’s Office and its Departments Held Ibadah Korban Ceremony for the Year 1445H / 2024M

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Departments under it held Ibadah Korban Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha for the year 1445 Hijrah / 2024 Masihi, at the Banquet Hall, Prime Minister’s Office Building.

Present as the Guest of Honors was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defense II. Also, in attendance were Deputy Ministers, Special Guests, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Senior Officers, Officers and Staff from PMO its Departments.

The Korban ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Takbir led by Yang Mulia Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, Mosque Affairs Officer of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. The event was then followed by a religious talk entitled ‘The Meaning Of Sacrifice’ delivered by Yang Mulia Ustaz Ahmad Muzhafar bin Haji Marsidi, Assistant Religious Development Officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre. 

The event continued with the recitation of Tafrijiyyah greetings led by officers and staff of the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Hall Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB). The event continued with the distribution of sacrificial meat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defense II as the Guest of Honor; Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) dan Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Timbalan Menteri (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office to fourty eight (48) recipients from 4 PMO and its departments; and one hundred and twenty four (124) Asnaf recipients registered under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB). 

The event was concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat led by Yang Mulia Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, Mosque Affairs’ Officer of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. A total of Four (4) cows were slaughtered for the ceremony. This Ibadah Korban is one of the religious practices that fall under Sunnah Muakkad (Sunnah act which is highly recommended), reflecting and signifying sense of gratefulness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’aala for all the blessings that have been bestowed in life. 

In addition, the practice serves to cultivate sense of caring and compassion for the community whilst at the same time strengthening relationships amongst fellow Muslims. The Ibadah Korban ceremony constitutes one of several religious activities held annually by the Prime Minister’s Office. The event was organized by the Public Service Commission Office (SPA) in collaboration with the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.​
