TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) B.V. celebrates 5 successful candidates at Apprenticeship Scheme Programme Signing Ceremony

TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) B.V. held a signing ceremony for the Apprenticeship Scheme Programme where it targets unemployed local graduates and those who are looking for industrial working experience as part of their further studies. The event was held at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom at the Empire Brunei, which featured five successful candidates from the apprenticeship assessment program held earlier this year in May.

The ceremony was attended by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo Bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office. Also present at the event were Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office and Interim Managing Director of Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam; Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) of Ministry of Education; and senior officials from the Department of Energy.The ceremony commenced with welcoming remarks from TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) B.V.’s General Manager Jerome Saniez.
The ceremony was held to also commemorate the International Youth Day to emphasize and highlight ‘Youth Inclusivity and Education’ as part of the key pillars under TotalEnergies Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. TotalEnergies in Brunei is continuously looking to support the Nation’s youth at various levels of education as well as other societal support. This apprenticeship program is part of TotalEnergies’ Youth Inclusion programs that also includes sponsoring the Children’s Visual Aid Fund project that was launched in 2021, providing educational scholarships for early education of children from underprivileged families and as well as sponsoring for best student awards at university levels.
Mr Saniez highlighted in his welcoming remarks that TotalEnergies continues to put the development and guidance of youth in the forefront of their CSR initiatives and hopes to contribute to Wawasan Brunei 2035 in the areas of Human Resources and Development to address unemployment and is hoped to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“The apprenticeship is a structured program designed with an objective to provide opportunity to graduates to utilize their academic knowledge and apply to the work setting. Apart from that, graduates will also be exposed to various projects that will enable their career enrichment”, he said.
The successful candidates were presented with apprenticeship contracts within TotalEnergies in the areas of Human Resources; Renewable Energy; Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir; and Health, Safety and Environment. Through the apprenticeship program, the graduates will be enrolled in the “SIMPUR” programme to create sense of belonging which aims to support and guide them in their career path and further develop them as leaders.
The event also promoted the Planète Énergies, an online educational platform that has been created by TotalEnergies Foundation as a dedicated area for elementary and high school teachers with the aim of fostering interactive discussion of energy issues. This online platform will be introduced to local educational institutions where teachers and students can find free learning materials with kits, games, presentations and also contests in the energy sector.​​
