Yang Mulia Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, chaired the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) Country Visit to Brunei Darussalam in her capacity as Senior Officials’ Energy (SOE) Leader for Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the development of the 9th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO9).
The Country Visit was led by Dato’ Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy, with Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, also in attendance. The Country Visit forms part of the standard consultation and validation process leading up to the publication of the 9th ASEAN Energy Outlook, with Brunei Darussalam being the first ASEAN Member State to be visited under this initiative.
The visit also reaffirms Brunei Darussalam’s role and commitment as a Member State of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), particularly in advancing regional energy cooperation towards strengthening the energy security and energy development across the region.
The visit further reflects ASEAN’s continued efforts to advance a forward-looking, evidence-based ASEAN Energy Outlook in support of energy security, sustainability, resilience, and inclusive growth. Discussions brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Wawasan Brunei Office, the Brunei Climate Change Office, the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, energy regulatory bodies, as well as higher education institutions.
Through these engagements, Brunei Darussalam provided country inputs on its energy policies, outlook, and strategic priorities to support the formulation of AEO9, contributing to ASEAN’s collective efforts towards a secure, sustainable, and resilient energy future.
