Solar Internship Programme
Monday, 26 January 2026

The Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office (DOE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd, today, held an event to mark the commencement of the first cohort of the Solar Internship Programme at the 30-megawatt Kampong Belimbing Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project. The event was held at the Prime Minister’s Office.

This initiative forms part of a broader framework, led by the Department of Energy and supported by the Ministry of Education, known as Skills and Capacity for Alternative Low Carbon Energy (SCALE). The solar internship programme places participants within an active utility-scale solar project, providing structured exposure to key stages of project delivery. This programme will provide a training platform to support workforce readiness in the low-carbon energy sector as part of national renewable energy development.

Under this programme, the four selected students from Politeknik Brunei (PB) and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), will undergo a five-month internship and gain exposure across the full solar project lifecycle, including project planning, feasibility studies, construction, as well as introductory knowledge on testing and commissioning activities.

The Solar PV Project at Kampong Belimbing Subok is developed by Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, Khazanah Satu Sdn Bhd and Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s Solarvest Holdings Berhad. Located on a 32.29-hectare site in Kampong Belimbing, Mukim Kota Batu, the facility is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2026 and is expected to generate more than 64,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.
